The Wine Archive at Palais Coburg
With six historic wine cellars, over 5,000 different wines and more than 60,000 bottles, the Palais Coburg Wine Archive is among the most significant of its kind worldwide – in fact, it is the eighth largest in the world.
This remarkable collection is housed within one of Vienna’s most architecturally fascinating cellar vaults, located beneath the former city walls.
The archive holds some of the world’s greatest wine treasures – rare vintages and fine bottles spanning four centuries, all meticulously stored in perfectly tempered cellars designed to meet the specific needs of both red and white wines. The diversity of grape varieties, vintages and esteemed producers makes the Palais Coburg Wine Archive a true jewel for connoisseurs and collectors alike.
Whether as part of an exclusive wine tasting, a private event, or simply as a cultural highlight – a visit to the Palais Coburg Wine Archive is an unforgettable experience for all who appreciate wine culture at its finest.

Wolfgang Kneidinger – Certified Sommelier / Wine Academic
“Taste, taste, taste – there are endlessly many wines to discover. Only through curiosity does one gain access to the world of wine – a world in which no one can ever stop learning! Yet amidst all this variety, I strive to remain humble and respectful of the wine’s magic.”
Wolfgang Kneidinger obtained his sommelier diploma at the age of 23. Three years later, he qualified as Maître Fromager, followed by his Wine Academic diploma in 2011. Since 2012, he has been the guardian of the Palais Coburg’s wine treasures – fortunate to live his passion to the fullest every day.
